July 4, 2025: Day of Deliverance

These are not the best of times for everybody. These are not the worst of times either. Whatever they are we will, as a people and a nation, endure and survive. As King Solomon was advised by his wise men when he asked for a sentence that would be true in all situations. They presented him with "This too shall pass”. Now in my eighth decade I can assure you of that truth.
This Fourth of July we should hark back to what the Founding Fathers expected today. Let’s consider that John Adams spoke for himself and the other signers of the Declaration when he wrote:
“The second day of July 1776, will be the most memorable Epocha, in the History of America.-I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding Generations, as the great anniversary Festival. It ought to be commemorated, as the Day of Deliverance by solemn Acts of Devotion to God Almightly. It ought to be solemnized with Pomp and Parade, with Shows, Games, Sports, Guns, Bells, Bonfires and Illuminations from the End of this Continent to the other from this Time forward forever more.”
Let the celebration begin!
From July 3. 1776 John Adams’ letter to Abigail Adams.
